Panda Peeks – Peppina Bangkok

peppina pizza bangkok

Are you a lover of pizzas and Italian food? If you are one like I am, follow me as I take you to experience one of the best and most authentic Pizzas at Peppina Bangkok, a hidden gem of Sukhumvit! Chef Paolo Vitaletti has a secret about Peppina.

He wants to serve the most authentic Neopolitan Pizza, so Verace Pizza Napolitana was his first helper who gave him experience of how to really make a true Neopolitan pizza.

Of course, it’s not just about the toppings, but hand-made dough with Italian flour, the other ingredients, and the baking process also contribute on the way to success. Peppina even brought a real Neopolitan baker to Bangkok specially for making the dough. The chef uses only San Marzano tomatoes, with strong and sweet taste, but less acidic flavour.

The restaurant design is the creation of architect Sarawuth Pintongs who’s given Peppina Bangkok a contemporary industrial loft style in white-brown under dim lighting.  You can either sit on a line of benches facing the open kitchen or choose your favorite corner on the golden brown sofa that warmly invites you in as soon as you arrive.

Hungry already? Let’s get started! Tasty red mullet crunch was our first delicacy. We could eat the whole fish, even the bones. After you’ve worked up an appetite with Mr. Red Mullet’s taste, you’ll be introduced to two salad dishes.

The first is the super-healthy Quinoa Salad, mixed with green beans, pickled anchovies, and fresh cottage cheese. The other is the Beetroot salad with rucola and walnuts topped with goats cheese. These two choices have their own unique tastes with multiple textures that you can only find here at Peppina, and we’re pretty sure that one of them will win your heart, or even both!

Now it’s time for our stars to make their way to the stage. 2 must try Neopolitan pizzas are up next! The first was the best-selling “The Duke”. Topped with robiola cheese, balsamic vinegar, onion, authentic Italian sausage and roasted cherry tomato and tarragon, this pizza was truly heaven. But when we tried the second one, we found it even more delicious!

It was the ‘Quattro Fromaggi’, a combination of 4 Italian cheeses, with royal project figs, walnut and a balsamic glaze. Cheese lovers have no choice, but to fall in love with it. Straight after dining on the pizzas, we ordered another signature pork liver wrapped in lard with bay leaves. Small, but tasty.

Together with this big meal, we got wined up with an Allegrini Amarone 2004. Usually, I don’t drink much wine, but I just surrendered to this glass as the taste was so soft and inviting. The taste lingered in your mouth the moment your tongue touched it, and the fragrant notes of cherries played in your head.

Peppina Bangkok also serve craft beer. We sipped Duchessa, a traditional Saison style from the craft brewers Berra del Bordo, 5.8% ABV with fruit and floral aromas added to a slight hint of pepper spice, giving it an extraordinary taste.

It was a memorable meal, sitting in the romantic atmosphere and surrounded by super friendly staff. Great mood! Good service! Grand dishes!
Why not add Peppina to your Bangkok-must-visit waiting list?!
