Vietnamese food is no longer a hard thing to find in Bangkok. Thanks to its increased popularity over the years, several Vietnamese restaurants have opened in Bangkok, and one of the good ones out there is the restaurant Vietnamese and More.

If there’s one word to describe Vietnamese and More, I would go for the word ‘humility’. The restaurant was founded by an American-Vietnamese chef and his Thai wife, with nothing more than a 24-seater small eatery under the roof of a small foyer in the apartment building where they lived, with just a couple pages of menu. Despite this simplicity, the couple has put their hearts and passion into every dish cooked, making this cozy restaurant one of the most loved in the city for Vietnamese food. The dishes served are generously portioned and represent the true taste of Vietnamese food.
In this week’s the Perfect Match, the foodpanda team visited Vietnamese and more, and came up with a good pairing between its two best-selling dishes!
ถ้าให้หาคำๆหนึ่งมาอธิบายความเป็น Vietnamese and more เราคงต้องบอกว่าร้านนี้เป็นร้านที่ค่อนข้างสมถะและติดดินค่ะ โดยเจ้าของร้านคือคู่สามีภรรยา ซึ่งฝ่ายชายเป็นเชฟลูกครึ่งชาวอเมริกัน – เวียดนาม ส่วนฝ่ายหญิงเป็นสาวไทย พวกเขาเปิดร้านอาหารเล็กๆร้านนี้บริเวณอพาร์ตเม้นท์ที่ทั้งคู่อาศัยอยู่นั่นเองค่ะ มีที่นั่งประมาณ 24 โต๊ะเท่านั้น แล้วก็เมนูมีเพียงไม่กี่หน้าด้วย ถึงแม้ร้านนี้จะดูเรียบๆ แต่ทั้งคู่ก็ใส่ใจในอาหารทุกจานที่บรรจงทำและเสิร์ฟให้กับลูกค้า ทำให้ร้านบรรยากาศเหมือนบ้านหลังนี้ ได้รับความนิยมอย่างมากในฐานะร้านอาหารเวียดนามรสเลิศ อาหารทุกจานของร้านนี้ปริมาณเยอะกำลังดี และให้รสชาติแบบเวียดนามแท้ๆ ในสัปดาห์นี้ของ Perfect Match ฟู้ดแพนด้าได้แวะไปที่ร้าน Vietnamese and more และกลับมาพร้อมกับไอเดียสุดสร้างสรรค์ในการผสมผสาน 2 เมนูเด็ดจากทางร้านค่ะ!
We arrived there at early lunchtime, and we needed a light meal so the Lemongrass Chicken Banh Mi was our first choice. Many of you must have tried a variety of sandwiches before, but I’m pretty sure that a Banh Mi, or a Vietnamese street sandwich, would be something you can also give a try. Chicken portions marinated in lemongrass was stuffed in a baguette, with herbs and vegetables added. Of course, there’s no cheese nor tomato sauce but this Banh Mi would give you a real taste of a Vietnamese sandwich. It was meaty, sweet-salty, and overall very delicious. It is very healthy, and I could consider ordering this mid-day for a snack.
เนื่องจากเรามาถึงที่ร้านในช่วงกลางวัน เราก็เลยอยากจะสั่งเมนูชิวๆที่ไม่หนักเกินไป เลยเลือกเป็นแซนวิชไก่ตะไคร้ ค่ะ เชื่อว่าหลายๆคนคงจะเคยทานแซนวิชหลากหลายประเภทจากหลายๆประเทศกันมาแล้วใช่ไหมคะ? แต่เราคิดว่าคงมีหลายๆคนที่ยังไม่รู้จักเจ้าบั๋นหมี่ กันอย่างแน่นอน บั๋นหมี่คือชื่อเรียกแซนวิชสไตล์เวียดนามที่เป็นเมนูยอดฮิตเลยล่ะค่ะ เนื้อไก่หมักกับตะไคร้อย่างดีอัดแน่นในขนมปังสไตล์ฝรั่งเศส เพิ่มรสชาติด้วยผักชนิดต่างๆ แน่นอนค่ะ ว่าไม่มีชีส ไม่มีซอสมะเขือเทศนะคะ แต่การันตีเลยว่าแซนวิชเวียดนามตัวนี้จะทำให้คุณได้รู้จักกับรสชาติของอาหารเวียดนามอย่างแท้จริงค่ะ รสชาติก็ไก่ก็ฟินมาก หวานๆเค็มๆ โดยรวมแล้วอร่อยมากค่ะ
Just before we continued eating our Lemongrass Chicken Banh Mi, another dish we ordered came. It was one of the restaurant’s most ordered dish, the Fresh Shrimp & Pork Summer Rolls. Both shrimp and pork were packed along with assorted herbs and vegetables and then rolled in a transparent rice paper, served with a sweet peanut dipping on the side.
These two dishes perfectly complements each other because the dominant Lemongrass taste in the Chicken Banh Mi emphasizes how fresh the ingredients used are when paired with the Fresh Shrimp & Pork Summer Rolls.
ก่อนที่เราจะเริ่มทานเมนูไก่ตะไคร้ Banh Mi อาหารอีกจานก็มาเสริฟที่โต๊ะแล้ว จานนี้เป็นอาหารยอดนิยมที่ขึ้นชื่อเช่นเดียวกัน นั่นก็คือเมนูซัมเมอร์โรลนั่นเอง ซึ่งทั้งไส้หมูและกุ้งนั้นได้ถูกม้วนพันมาพร้อมสมุนไพรและผักหลากชนิดในแผ่นแป้งข้าวเจ้าบางใส เสิร์ฟฟร้อมกับน้ำจิ้มถั่วลิสงเป็นเครื่องเคียงอย่างน่ารับประทาน
โดยอาหารทั้งสองเมนูนี้สามารถทานร่วมกันได้เป็นอย่างดี นั่นก็เพราะรสชาติที่จัดจ้านของตะไคร้จากเมนูไก่ตะไคร้ Banh Mi นั้น ช่วยเสริมให้ความสดและรสชาติของส่วนประกอบในเมนูซัมเมอร์โรลทั้งหมูและกุ้งนั้นกลมกล่อมเข้ากันได้อย่างลงตัว
