Best Chinese Dim Sum #1 | HongKong Noodle
Our first stop today is at Hong Kong Noodle. I heard from my friends that the food served here is of good quality. The restaurant offers a huge selection of rice and noodle dishes, but starters like Dim Sum are mostly ordered here.
I then began my order with two of my favorite Dim Sum, the Shrimp Dumplings and Big Gow, both a great choice for shrimp-lovers. The Shrimp dumpling size was neither too small nor too big to fit one bite. I cut each into half to see how overloaded the shrimp filling was, and I was not disappointed.
Next, I tried my other order, the Big Gow, which is another kind of shrimp dumplings. It’s actually a Har Gow dish which was wrapped in a semi-transparent dumpling wrap. The size was bigger than normal and that’s why Hong Kong Noodle has named it as Big Gow. The filling was a little bit bland so the dipping sauce was a perfect match to enhance the overall flavor. I enjoyed both dumplings and was surprised to find out that I got more full than I expected to be!
ร้านนี้จะไม่ติดอยู่ในลิสต์ของเราได้ยังไงล่ะ? อาหารจีนของร้าน ฮ่องกง นู๊ดเดิ้ล คุณภาพระดับพรีเมี่ยม และคัดสรรเมนูเด็ดทั้งข้าวและบะหมี่มาให้เราได้ชิมกันมากมายค่ะ แต่เมนูติ่มซำของที่นี่ก็เรียกได้ว่าขึ้นชื่อไม่แพ้กัน เราสั่งติ่มซำแบบเบสิคจานโปรดมาลองทานดูค่ะ เข่งแรกคือ ขนมจีบกุ้ง และตามมาด้วยฮะเก๋าจักรพรรดิ ซึ่งเป็น 2 เมนูที่คนที่ชอบทานกุ้งต้องหลงรักแน่ๆ สำหรับขนมจีบกุ้งนั้น เข่งหนึ่งจะมี 3 ลูกค่ะ ขนาดก็พอดีคำ ไม่ใหญ่ไปแต่ก็ไม่เล็กไป เราลองผ่าครึ่งขนมจีบดูเพื่อดูว่าไส้กุ้งด้านในเนี่ยอัดแน่นขนาดไหน บอกเลยว่าประทับใจไม่เบาเลย ไส้แน่นมาก เป็นกุ้งแบบเน้นๆเลย ได้รสของกุ้งเต็มๆคำเลยค่ะ อร่อยมาก ยิ่งทานคู่กับซอสเปรี้ยวๆเค็มๆ ยิ่งเข้ากัน ถัดมา เรามาลองฮะเก๋าจักรพรรดิ หรือฮะเก๋ากุ้งดีๆนี่เอง แป้งที่ห่อจะใสๆ ทำให้ดูเหมือนลูกคริสตัลเล็กๆ แอบมองเห็นไส้ข้างในอยู่ ขนาดจะค่อนข้างอวบเลยค่ะ เต็มปากเต็มคำมากๆ ฮ่องกง นู๊ดเดิ้ลเลยตั้งชื่อเมนูนี้ด้วยคำว่า จักรพรรดิ แป้งที่ใช้ห่อจะค่อนข้างบางและนิ่ม ไม่ค่อยเหนียวค่ะ แต่ก็ห่อไส้ได้หมดพอดี ไส้กุ้งนุ่มลิ้นดีมากค่ะ แต่ออกจะจืดไปเล็กน้อย ถ้าทานคู่กับจิ๊กโฉ่ว ก็จะช่วยเพิ่มรสชาติโดยรวมได้ดีค่ะ โดยส่วนตัวแล้ว ชอบทั้งสองเมนูเลย และต้องบอกเลยว่าพอทานหมดแล้ว อิ่มกว่าที่คิดไว้เยอะเลย
Best Chinese Dim Sum #2 | The Golden Palace
Our second visit around Bangkok is at The Golden Palace, a luxuriously decorated Chinese restaurant located at the Windsor Hotel, Sukhumvit 20. Like its name implies, the restaurant serves golden and treasured traditional Chinese dishes, sometimes served with a modern twist. It’s also known to house the best Dim Sum choices and even runs a Dim Sum Buffet available for lunch and dinner. Now what are we waiting for?
Instead of sticking to the classics, I decided to go for something special like the Steamed Fresh Scallop Dumplings. This Golden Palace Dim Sum has emphasized the fact that dumplings are not just all about minced pork or shrimps, but also works well with other varieties of seafood. The taste was new to my palate but I started to like it from the first bite. The scallop was of big portion, with a slight and perfect hint of saltiness. It was indeed delicious.
One dish is never enough for me, so I also ordered The Golden Palace’s Steamed Minced Pork Buns. What I loved the most about this dish was the minced pork filling. It was juicy and a little bit moist, and the bun itself held a slightly sweet flavor.
ผู้ท้าชิงตำแหน่งสุดยอดติ่มซำร้านที่ 2 ของเราก็คือร้าน เดอะ โกลเด้น พาเลซ ค่ะ ร้านนี้เป็นภัตตาคารอาหารจีนสุดหรูตั้งอยู่ภายในโรงแรมวินเซอร์ ซอยสุขุมวิท 20 ชื่อของร้านก็บอกเป็นนัยๆแล้วว่า อาหารแต่ละจานของที่นี่ระดับทองคำค่ะ บอกเลยว่าเกรดพรีเมี่ยมทีเดียว เดอะ โกลเด้น พาเลซ มีชื่อเสียงในเรื่องติ่มซำรสเลิศ และทางร้านยังจัดให้บริการบุฟเฟ่ต์ติ่มซำสำหรับมื้อกลางวันและมื้อเย็นอีกด้วยนะคะ เอาเป็นว่าไม่ต้องรออะไรแล้วค่ะ ตามมาดูกันดีกว่าว่าเราจะแนะนำติ่มซำจานไหนให้ลองชิมกันดู รอบนี้ขอหนีจากอะไรที่คลาสสิคๆมาสั่งเมนูพิเศษอย่าง ฮะเก๋าหอยเชลล์ กันบ้าง เมนูนี้ทำให้รู้เลยว่าจริงๆแล้วเนี่ย ติ่มซำไม่จำเป็นต้องเน้นที่หมูหรือกุ้งเท่านั้นค่ะ หอยเชลล์ก็ทำเอาต่อมอยากอาหารของเราทำงานแทบไม่ทันเหมือนกันนะ! รสชาติค่อนข้างแปลกใหม่ค่ะ แต่ติดใจตั้งแต่คำแรกเลย หอยเชลล์ที่ทางร้านใช้ไซส์บิ๊กเลย รสชาติก็เค็มๆกำลังพอดี นิ่มทั้งด้านในและด้านนอก บอกเลยว่าอร่อยเด็ดจริงๆ อีกหนึ่งเมนูของเดอะโกลเด้น พาเลซที่ขอแนะนำคือ ซาลาเปาหมูสับ ค่ะ สิ่งที่โดดเด่นที่สุดเห็นจะเป็นไส้หมูสับนี่แหละ มันชุ่มๆนุ่มๆอร่อยมากค่ะ ส่วนตัวแป้งก็หวานนิดๆด้วย
Best Chinese Dim Sum #3 | Dragon Xpress
We’ve come to the last destination for this week’s Top of the Town hunt! I’ve now arrived at the Chinese – American restaurant located on Asoke Montri road, called Dragon Xpress. The restaurant offers both old favorites and inventive dishes, and Dim Sum dishes are included in the latter category. Several dishes are creative and even have a slight Thai twist added to them. Today, I’ve tried enough steamed Dim Sum already, so this time I’m picking the fried ones instead.
The first dish I ordered was a Fried Chicken Momo, a special version of the regular dumplings. I called it special because these were cooked by steaming first and then pan frying, giving it an extra crispy bite. It was crunchy on the outside but the chicken filling inside still remained juicy and flavorful. This Dragon Xpress Dim Sum dish can be an easy favourite even among kids.
Since I stated earlier that some of the dishes served here are made with a Thai twist, I ordered Chicken Momo Krapao to taste. Pad Krapao is basically a Thai classic dish, made up of stir-fried Basil. When these simple Fried Chicken Dumplings were seasoned with a Krapao taste, I couldn’t disagree with the combination. Its crispy wrapper, together with the essence of basils has made this Dim Sum’s taste very unique and delicious.
เราเดินทางมาถึงร้านอาหารร้านสุดท้ายสำหรับ Top of the Town ในสัปดาห์นี้กันแล้วค่ะ ร้านนี้มีชื่อว่าดราก้อน เอ็กซ์เพรส ให้บริการอาหารสไตล์จีน-อเมริกัน ตั้งอยู่บนถนนอโศกมนตรี ร้านนี้มีการตกแต่งที่ดูเลิศหรู และมีอาหารชวนฟินหลากหลาย มีทั้งเมนูแบบดั้งเดิม และเมนูที่สร้างสรรค์ขึ้นใหม่ ซึ่งแน่นอนว่าเมนูติ่มซำจัดอยู่ในอย่างหลังค่ะ แถมบางเมนูยังเพิ่มรสชาติแบบไทยๆเข้าไปด้วย เราได้ลองทานติ่มซำแบบนึ่งกันมาพอสมควรแล้ว คราวนี้ขอเปลี่ยนเป็นแบบทอดบ้างดีกว่าค่ะ จานแรกที่สั่งคือ โมโม่ไก่ทอด ซึ่งก็คือขนมจีบเวอร์ชั่นพิเศษนั่นเอง ที่เรียกว่าพิเศษก็เป็นเพราะว่าเมนูนี้จะถูกนำไปนึ่งเหมือนติ่มซำทั่วๆไปก่อนค่ะ แล้วจึงนำไปทอดอีกรอบหนึ่ง ทำให้กรอบทั่วทั้งชิ้น ติ่มซำของดราก้อน เอ็กซ์เพรส จานนี้สามารถเป็นอาหารที่แสนจะน่าลองสำหรับคุณและยังเป็นขนมกรุบกรอบสำหรับคุณหนูๆทั้งหลายได้อีกด้วย ด้านนอกจะกรอบมาก แต่ไส้ไก่ด้านในยังคงนุ่มและชุ่ม รสชาติเป็นเอกลักษณ์จริงๆ ตามที่ได้บอกไว้ตอนแรกว่าอาหารหลายเมนูของร้านนี้มักจะผสมผสานรสชาติแบบไทยๆเข้าไปด้วย เราก็เลยสั่ง โมโม่ไก่กระเพรา มาปิดท้ายกันสักหน่อย ผัดกระเพราเป็นเมนูคู่ครัวของคนไทย ซึ่งมีใบกระเพราเป็นส่วนผสมหลัก เมื่อนำโมโม่ไก่ทอดธรรมดามาแต่งเสริมเติมรสด้วยกระเพราแล้ว ดราก้อน เอ็กซ์เพรส ได้ทำให้เมนูนี้เป็นการผสมผสานระหว่างอาหารไทยและอาหารจีนที่ลงตัว และแปลกใหม่มากๆค่ะ ตัวแป้งกรอบๆด้านนอกเข้ากันได้ดีกับกลิ่นหอมๆของใบกระเพรา อร่อยอย่าบอกใคร!
Now, it’s time for me to choose which one of these became my personal pick for the best Chinese Dim Sum! They were all delicious, however if I can only pick one, it would then be The Golden Palace. Their Dim Sum choices were loaded and made with premium quality ingredients. All I can say is that all the dishes I tried today, including Hongkong Noodle’s and Dragon Xpress’ were undoubtedly delicious and with just the right taste that was neither bland nor oily.
